I travel around the U.S. frequently and I always look for an African experience! I love Egusi Soup, Fufu, and Jollof! I have made it my goal to try it where ever I can find it! Today it was in Milwaukee, WI! I called Immy’s before ordering and spoke to the owner Immy! She was very kind and answered all my questions regarding the food and spice levels. I was excited to taste her version of the West African dish Egusi, Fufu, and Jollof being that she is from Uganda (East Africa)! Though it was different, it was very good! I’m generally used to Egusi having lots of melon seeds and bitter leaf or spinach. This was more like a spicy beef stew. The beef was tender and full of flavor! As a bonus she added coconut milk chicken and that too was very pleasing to my palate! As for the Jollof, it was good, but it could use just a little more flavor. It was a little on the bland side. All together, Madame Immy, my experience was delightful! And I will order from you again when I come through this area! Thank you so much! Happy New Year!

The food was very tasty, and the portion was good. I had the peanut something chicken, tomato spiced rice, and the plantains. The place ambiance was very nice as well.

Immy's flawlessly went from a food truck to a brick and mortar and I couldn't be happier! Went on a Thursday night recently and had an excellent experience. Service is counter style, where you can see daily available options along the line, and can pick out a main entree, type of rice and sides, and then you pay before you sit down. Food highlights included: Chicken Peanut Stew: it was full of flavor and not too sweet Beef Eglusi: perfectly spiced and really good with Fufu (a mashed yam side) Goat Curry: super tender and fall off the bone Samosa: turkey one was perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside The restaurant ambiance is nice, they clearly keep it super clean and even though the chairs are plastic, they are good if you aren't sitting for more than 30 min. Highly recommend a visit to Immy's, or even takeout! Lots of people got takeout while we were dining in.

What a wonderful experience! The staff is lovely and friendly. The food was awesome, reasonably priced, and a good portion size (I had leftovers). The restaurant is clean and spacious, and has a great vibe. I'll be coming back! The coconut chicken curry had my partner who doesn't like coconut eating it! Yum!

Stopped in for lunch and was happy to find I had two vegan entree options. They let me take a taste of vegan egusi and navy beans stew, and I ended getting rice with a half portion of each. I also got the strawberry ginger lemonade (highly recommend to help digest this hearty meal). Everything was so delicious, filling, fresh, and wholesome. They offer a student/teacher 15% discount on Tuesdays and Wednesdays which was a huge plus. I ate in the cafe and I thought the ambience was nice. Staff were kind and helpful. Thanks!

This restaurant is located in a lower east side area with lots of parking available, which is a definite plus. The interior design is appealing and allows for smooth movement throughout the space. If you're short on time, I recommend placing a take out order in advance for a quicker experience. The restaurant offers an a la carte menu that reflects its cultural roots and high standards. As an award-winning African restaurant, it delivers dishes that truly exemplify its commitment to quality and excellence. On top of that the leftovers are even more delicious !!!

Wow! What a find on a day trip to Milwaukee. Food was out of this world. Save room and skip the fufu and rice and get half portions. Chicken Egusi was really good with a touch of spice. Goat curry was exceptional with and incredible broth and fall of the bone goat Lentils were good with nice subtle flavors The winner was the chicken in peanut sauce. Licked the bowl and not ashamed!
